24 Hours in Adelaide

No longer seen as the stopover city, Adelaide has seen a revival of cafes, bars and an arts scene, among other draws. For a city that has so much to see, do and eat as Adelaide, it would be wise to spend more than one day exploring. However, for those that only have 24 hours in Adelaide, we’ve compiled the perfect guide for you.

Breakfast
A trip to Adelaide isn’t complete without heading down to one of their spectacular beaches. Henley Beach is home to MALOBO, serving a range of impressive range of breakfast items inspired by South East Asia and Europe. Looking out at the water, you can enjoy your morning coffee beachside.

Morning
Head back into the city and indulge in some retail therapy. There’s no better place to start than Adelaide’s famous East End and Rundle Mall. Buskers add to the entertainment, as you stroll through department stores, boutiques, shopping complexes and world-famous chain stores. You’ll also find the world famous Haigh’s Chocolate (must pop in for a tasting)! After a spot of shopping, drop into JamFactory: a studio, gallery and shop, showcasing the best of Australian and international craft and design. Watch artists in action, creating jewellery, furniture and ceramics.

Lunch
Iconic to Adelaide, the Adelaide Central Market has been at the epicentre of South Australia’s foodie culture. It’s a vibrant, busy place filled with dozens of artisan food producers selling everything from local olive oil to old-fashioned lollies and locally-distilled gin. For your lunch-stop, be sure to visit Lucia’s Fine Foods, a long-time Adelaide favourite serving up traditional pizzas and pastas.

Afternoon
When great Australian wine is mentioned, Penfolds always comes to the tip of the tongue. The iconic Penfolds vineyards and Magill Estate cellar door are just 15 minutes east from the city centre. The cellar door closes at 6pm, so you just have enough time to sip, savour and pick up a few bottles too.

Dinner
Stroll down the sweeping ribbon staircase in the Mayfair Hotel (www.mayfairhotel.com.au) and you will discover the Mayflower Restaurant. Classic dishes complemented by a dessert trolley presented to your table along with warm attentive service is the heart of this exciting new restaurant. A well-structured wine list featuring a selection of handpicked South Australian wines is designed to complement each dining selection.
